Personally, I would prefer winning the league. The league is a performance based on an entire season whereas the cup is only a few games, much of which can have an off day and you'll lose for example.
If you win both, you are the ultimate team that season though, so I try and target both in all of my leagues.

@john-gray_2 - Not yet no, but with due time, they should be able to challenge for top 4 sooner or later. All they need is some more world class players and to eject those underperforming or not suitable to be there.
