Best formation for counter attack?

Hi!
On Android you can now see how the match went and two guys are commenting on the team performance. In the last matches against stronger teams I selected the strategy "counter attack" and played a 5-3-2 and a 5-4-1. In both matches the analysis said that the strategy and formation did not fit very well.
I am a bit confused. What can I improve here?

@Klotzikowsi That's weird, if you want to counter-attack, formations with 5 defenders are the best. Maybe your rivals' tactics were better, or simply their teams were stronger

5-3-2 or 5-2-3 is the best for counterattack.
