Points and medals end of season

Hello,
I refrained from complaining but here I do not understand.
End of the season with Valencia (objective 7), I finished first and I lost in the final of the cup against the second (objective 5). I get 1830 points and he 4346. Both level 9.
Season before Lazio obj 7 finished 4, end of season: -1,099.
How am I supposed to win medals?

@gabildo If you want to focus only on medals then there is only one way. Inactive or empty leagues. Forget about competitive leagues...

That's not entirely true!
We all came to the conclusion already that system is not perfect and we're working on improving it, but that won't happen overnight, but....
When you reach higher divisions it's supposed that it means you're better than lower division managers, so it's expected you to beat them.

@specialone True, and It is nice that it is being worked on but sadly changes so far are miniscule. And my statement above is based only on the fact that when I look at top 20-30 managers in world via this medal ranking I only see people playing empty or bot closed/private leagues, not a single player focused on competitive play.
Also, If my statement didnt have a solid chunk of truth in it you guys wouldnt have to change and delay OSM World Championship. Because I am sure that you as well are aware of the fact that If you call up top 150 managers from this ridiculous Global ranking we have right now, that 2/3 of them will dont want to play as they dont wanna risk medals.
Again, Im not complaining or anything, I gave up on that, Im just expressing my opinnion about the things I sadly see on rankings and the most efficient ways of gathering medals...

@specialone Here, just did a random check on 3 managers in top 100. Always the same thing, all 3 same stuff, either bots or empty leagues:
