@klosek not necessarily. If you are very active on all four slots, it should give you an advantage in one at least. I am very active myself and I find it very helpful. Definitely gives an active manager a boost by the beginning of the season, or mid-season too. You can get a huge advantage if you nail those upgrades in time.

@klosek not really a disadvantage because if your active you will usually be informed through the pop ups but it would be better for all to be informed in prior with something like a countdown timer @Harry-Poon

Marketing man ... we have to pay 1 BC for each transfer we make, but we don't receive 1 BC if we sell a player. Tricky thing, but good for them because we will need to buy BC at a moment.
