2017 IIHF Men´s World Championship

  • Hi everyone! I decided to make this new topic for the coming ice hockey world championship.
The elite world championship will begin on 5th May and end on 21th May. However I make this topic now, because the Division I/A began yesterday and I/B begins today. These are smaller World Championships, from where teams can promote to a higher level. I hope that here are some ice hockey fans and you will like this topic 🙂
    Elite world championship teams:
    Group A(Cologne)
    United States

    Group B(Paris):
    Czech Republic

    Division I/A teams:
    South Korea

    Division I/B teams:
    Great Britain

  • Yesterday were three matches in Division I/A:
    Ukraine-Hungary 3:5(1:1, 2:1, 0:3)
    South Korea-Poland 4:2(1:0, 1:1, 2:1)
    Austria 2:3 Kazakhstan(0:2, 2:0, 0:1)

Poland was for me a surprise that they lost. Ukraine is very good, they are the hosts of the tournament. I think from the first three matches, that three teams will have good chances to promote from Division I/A, Hungary, Austria and Kazakhstan.
I hope that we will be one of them, go boys, go Hungary! 🙂

    Group A:
Sweden-Russia 1:2(1:0, 0:0, 0:1, 0:0), after shootout 0:1 for Russia. It was one of the biggest classics, unluckily i couldn´t watch that game.
USA-Germany 1:2(0:1, 0:0, 1:1)-I watched a longer highlights of this match, USA played better, but Germany home won the game, they had a great Greis in the goal.

    Group B:
Finland-Belarus 3:2(2:0, 0:1, 1:1)-I watch the longer highlights of this match. Finland played better at the beginning, but they gave place to Belarus, so they could come back in the match, but in the end Finland won the game.
Czech Republic-Canada 1:4(0:1, 0:1, 1:2)-It was my favourite one on Friday. I am a Czech fan so maybe because of that. But it was a great game too. Both goalies saved well, Mrazek and Pickard too, we couldn´t score, so Canada won, but we had more shoots(29:28). This is a good score for the future. Go boys! 🙂 🙂

  • Saturday:

    Group A:
Latvia :flag_lv: - :flag_dk: Denmark 3:0(0:0, 1:0, 2:0) - Latvia easily won this game, Denmark had only chances in the 1st period of the game to win the match, Merzlikins saved well.
Slovakia :flag_sk: - :flag_it: Italy 3:2(1:0, 0:1, 1:1, 1:0)-I watched only the highlights of this game. Slovakia in the last minutes of the finishing of the 3rd period scored the goal to 2:2, and they won the game in overtime. And in the end they could hear the Slovenian hymn. Congratulations to organizators in Cologne 😄
Germany :flag_de: - :flag_se: Sweden 2:7(1:1, 1:3, 0:3) - Germans could held the step with Sweden till 2:2, than the Scandinavians easily won the match. It wasn´t an easy match for Sweden.

    Group B:

Switzerland :flag_ch: - :flag_si: Slovenia 5:4(4:0, 0:1, 0:3, 0:0), after shootout 1:0. It was an amazing game. Switzerland won already 4:0 in the first period, but then Slovenia could come back to 4:4. However they couldn´t won the game in the overtime and shootout. Pintaric goalie got in the game at 4:0 so Slovenian can thank him this one point.
Belarus :flag_by: - :flag_cz: Czech Republic 1:6(0:2, 1:1, 0:3)-It was our second match. We easily won the game 2:0, but then i don´t know what happened, Belarus nearly come back in the match, but luckily we get the rhythm of the match and won it easily.
Norway :flag_no: - :flag_fr: France 3:2(0:0, 2:1, 1:1)-It was an equalized match, Norway was a bit better, this was the co-host France´s first game, Norway won.

    Group A:
Italy :flag_it: - :flag_ru: Russia 1:10(0:2, 1:3, 0:5) - Russia scored a lots of power play goals, they are one of the best in it this year.
USA :flag_um: - :flag_dk: Denmark 7:2(3:1, 3:1, 1:0) - It was equalized match till the half of the second period, then USA easily won this game.
Latvia :flag_lv: - :flag_sk: Slovakia 3:1(1:0, 1:0, 1:1) - Latvia played better, they deserved this match. They are the biggest surprise till now this tournament.

    Norway :flag_no: - :flag_ch: Switzerland 0:3(0:0, 0:2, 0:1)-Easy Swiss win, they deserved it.

  • Monday:
    Group A:
Germany :flag_de: - :flag_ru: Russia 3:6(0:3, 0:2, 3:1)-Russia followed their last game, and again played well. But Germany could play a great 3rd period.
USA :flag_um: - :flag_se: Sweden 4:3(2:3, 1:0, 1:0) - It was a great match, i watched only the highlights. It was maybe one of the matches on this tournament so far 😄

    Group B:

    Belarus :flag_by: - :flag_ca: Canada 0:6(0:1, 0:2, 0:3)-Easy Canadian win, nothing else 😄
Finland :flag_fi: - :flag_cz: Czech Republic 3:4(3:0, 0:0, 0:3, 0:0), after shoot-out 0:1 for Czech Republic - In my opinion this was the best match so far of the tournament. Finnish team played well at the beginning, but then Czech Republic had a surprising last 5 minutes, the score was 3:3, and in the shoot-out Hanzl scored, and Mrazek saved three times. What a match was it! 🙂 🙂

  • UUUH! What a match from Finland, that have been totally 💩
I couldn't expect this to happen. Got so much critics from everywhere.. But magic happened in Cologne today. Sweden or Switzerland in semifinals. Russia are also through, against Canada or Germany.
