In my opinion, grey background is "better" for majority of users than blue background. Actual background color is #eee and yes, maybe if background colour was #ddd or #ccc we can see the white area better yes but... Never 100% of OSM users will be agree in something, think about it and be more optimistic about changes!

Hi Bosses,
I believe this is not new for you guys (if it is, then you need to clear your cache to have it updated), but our forum Theme was updated from the blue colour to a gray one!
We had several complaints that it was really hard to read posts with previous theme, so we changed it to this new one. We believe it would make majority of our forumers happier.
That's not the idea we wanted to implement, but due to limitations it's the only way possible now. We wanted to keep our original theme and add a couple skins, so users can select the one they like the most. Unfortunately the skins provided by the company that owns the forum software only work with their own original theme. It doesn't work with customized themes :(. This is why we had to chose for a different theme!
We implemented two other changes with this update:
- Removal of Change picture button - This button didn't had any utility on forums and was misguiding users. Avatars on forums will always be the OSM ones, so if you want to change your avatar, you need to do it on OSM, not in forums, this is why we removed the button!
- Link to OSM profile is also added to every user profile. This link is placed on the Website field. Users can edit/change this value, but it will be reverted on next login! Like this it will be way easier for everyone to check every users profile on OSM!
We hope that these changes please all OSM managers!

But this white theme is tooooo bright. My eyes are bleeding after few minutes of watching at screen.
Previous theme was much better then this. It's too bad that there is no possibilty to add a couple skins -

I like it much better than the previous one. If you complain about too much white, adjust your monitor's brightness a bit...
@Octi Bro, I don't think lowering brightness just for forums will be good. I use my PC for other works, so I put my screen on exact brightness and it's harder to keep changing it. Also like I said before, I use forums while watching videos on other half of the screen, so changing brightness wont work.

It's not grey at all.. It's too bright. If this can adjusted it's a great update
And no, I don't adjust my monitor brightness for the visit of one site.

@Simenon The forum colour was only changed because it has been on of the biggest complaints about the new forums. Some users struggled to read the forums when they were the theme was blue, now everyone can read the forums and surely that is better?
I do not think the colour of the forum makes much difference, I personally preferred the blue colour too, but if I had a choice of a blue forum that some users couldn't read or a grey forum that everyone could read I would pick the latter.

@DutchCaptain That's would have been a great idea and it was what was wanted by the developers, but it wasn't possible to do implement, unfortunately.

@ruby2003 Atleast can they lower the brightness or make it proper grey and not this bright?
I am sure everyone can see it if its medium grey or whatever.
@King-Noel I honestly do not find it very bright? Maybe it is just my laptop?
However, there is no saying that this colour is the final colour and it may be altered some time in the future.

@ruby2003 I am not the only one who finds it bright, there are many people saying it on this forum and on crew.

@King-Noel Yeah, I know. But personally I haven't noticed the brightness to be a problem. But that may be because of my laptop or something.

@ruby2003 Yeah, maybe you put your brightness to really low but that is not going to work for many of us.
I use my PC for many other things and have medium brightness.

How can you put your brightness to full and not say this new theme is not bright, I am using it on lowest brightness now and still hurting my eyes. hehe

I like the new change on the Theme because it's a change for the better and any change for the better is a good one. Now i can read the posts easily and that is the point the forum, or i think it is.
I understand it's not an eye candy or warm enough but i don't care about that it's functional.
Besides seeing changes that make sense makes me happy and a happy manager is a spending manager
