Crew Chat Update
-
Kind time of the day, update, bad, terribly inconvenient to communicate, for example, you can enter a computer and not score a phone with any nonsense before, and now half of the clan have stopped communicating in connection with this, we created our chat in the VKontakte arbor. and again there are no problems with communication, but it became very inconvenient to be both in the game and in the VC chat from the phone simultaneously

We want a Line chat
-
I prefer the previous version of group chat was much more educational and warned you who left the group, who entered. Actually I did not like the update of chat, now we have to juggle to communicate. I vote for the chat to return to how it was before the update, many of us think the same.

To be honest, I feel like giving every crew a personal crew forum where we can create threads and chat/discuss within those threads, would have been a much better update than this. A few years ago every crew had their own personal crew forum, removing that is one of the silliest things OSM has ever done. This new update is even more silly and completely unnecessary as you can easily PM a new crew member how to join Discord, Line, etc etc.

Very very few Managers who filled in the survey checked Line in the list of chat apps, so it doesn't seem that likely we will add it to the list WhatsApp, Discord, Facebook and Telegram were the most used and totalled to more than 91%. That's a huge number with 4 apps and seeing we don't want to fragment it too much, because if we provide support for ALL chat apps, managers will be less likely to join some app they don't know making most chats empty/dead, it's the only 4 we'll support for now.

Like you say, we also thought the forum was a valid option and took it into consideration.
But most managers preferred a proven existing chat app instead of the forum.Out of curiosity, what do you think the Forum can offer that the current options can't?

@galipcaliskan1907 2.0 forum was 1000 x better! with a public part and a part reserved for the members of the crew.
The Line application is much more fun from its stickers.

Out of curiosity, what do you think the Forum can offer that the current options can't?If personal crew forums were introduced, it would have been an alternative solution to avoid using any other alternative chat apps. Apart from the majority of players who are aware of such chat apps, our crew has dealt with some players from countries with limited knowledge of the internet/apps etc. They didn't want to install alternative chat apps (like Discord where our whole crew management is based on) as they thought it was some sort of hacking software lol, while others don't even bother installing or using an extra app just to chat.
With the current update introduced, if I ask myself - has it really been an 'update' to the previous chat system? The answer is no, and it has even removed the ability for some crews who preferred to chat inside the previous built-in chat box than using any alternative chat apps. And if they did use any alternative chat apps, they can simply PM anyone and send the invitation link to those apps. So what improvement did the new update really bring?
If you think about it, if OSM introduced the personal crew forum instead, then managers would rather use the crew forum than going to another alternative chat app. They would also be more active on the crew forum rather than those alternative chat apps. It would have been an all-in-one type thing for everyone, no matter wherever you are located, no matter how limited your knowledge is about external apps etc.

There everything was cut ...
in addition to the app there is no notification "!" if we receive a private message -

I agree with you Dhrubo, the forum would be a great option, if not, the best. And keeping managers inside OSM instead of leading them out would off course be our preferred option. There are a few reasons why we didn't go for that option though. Let me try to explain why;
First of all there are technical reasons behind it. The current forum doesn't allow us the flexibility we need to automate the creation of private crew forums.
But if a majority of managers told us they’d rather use the forums we'd look into the technical reasons further. This is also why we put the forums question in the survey. The results however showed very little interest in the forums as an option. We shared your suspicions about managers not bothering to install an app they don't use (yet) and that’s why we added that question to the survey as well. But most managers said they’re okay with installing/using a different app than they prefer. (That's also why we show the preferred chat app on crew info so potential crew members can see that before they join the crew)
I agree with your last paragraph. Having more users on the forums is my wish as well . Hope we can introduce it to iOS/Android users some time. The more the merrier .

@galipcaliskan1907 sorry, but i reeeeally DON'T like the new chat form.......it was more comfy before!!! Now we need to open onother app for chatting....when we had it before in the same(Osm)....u need to put option to keep up with the old form...we need to have a chooce!!....
BAD decision.....BAD, my appologies!
Me and the crew i play in WANT the OLD chat form/view!! :))) -
I have to say I agree with you guys. My crew alredy had a fb chat with all the players who had FB, but there is several people who dont communicate via FB and they used to speak via in-game chat. We alredy had a link for our FB chat in our crew profile, so basically all this 'update' did was remove the chat completely. I understand it is not possible to implement such a good chat in-game but i bealive that just a bit more user-friendly interface and fully functioning notifications would be much better solution.

This post is deleted!

The new chat crew update is terrible I lost contact with crew members since last update and no one wants to join the third party discord app. I wish OSM gave us the option to use in-game chat for those who do not want to use a third party stand alone app.
-
I completely agree that the update is terrible, this is the worst update in the entire history of OSM, now no one actually communicates on third-party standalone applications.
-
@كابتن-دورا I perfectly agree! Plus: It does not seem a sound idea that we are supposed to promote a certain chat app to our crew members...
-
@wizzy-sensei there's been almost two weeks, update still didn't come. Is messenger support even coming or did the negative feedback change the plans and some sort of bigger change is coming (or the return of old chat). Whats the news ?
-
Hi,
Today Messenger and Telegram will be live.
First we'll wait and see if this makes a difference for this feature and continue to look at the data and reviews before we might decide to make a bigger change.

Another problem we came across after this update is that we can no longer see which member left (or joined) the crew. It used to update us in the old crew chat, but that's no longer the case. Maybe osm should implement a tracker display (like how it used to be years ago - attached below) to make easier to track who joined and who left the crew.
