      Hi mate.
Basically, the main thing is transfers, after starting a league, make sure you get active on the transfer list immediately (unless of course its a league without transfers). In that case i think its a bit more laid back and also a chance to experiment with tactics.
The second most important thing is training. The thing to remember is that older (30+) players get less progression in training, and also it takes more time to sell them.
There are 2 things which give you an advantage in a match apart from home game: having all players in the correct position and having 6 or more players of the same nationality in your team. The bonuses are not disclosed to the players, to try and find out for themselves. As far as i know, i think it gives like a 10-20% percent bonus depending on certain factors.
      Specialists:
      Captain: your oldest player
Penalties and free kicks: player with best attack
      Corners: best midfielder
And lastly, the most meta formations are:
      For home or easy game:
4 3 3 A/B with passing game or wing play, making sure all players are in correct position. Tackling according to ref, zonal marking, no offside, defenders defend deep, attackers stay forward and midfielders stay in position.
Apart from that, for hard/away games, 4 5 1, 5 2 3, 4 2 3 1 work best, with counter attack or shoot on sight, same tactics as above.
      Hope that helps you 🫡
