    Dear Managers,

I played OSM a long time ago, but I'm reading the book of the creator of the game and I would like play the game again. Mostly the game changed more to pay-to-win than in the previous version, but 10 years ago I already had an idea to start up a season more realistic. Some unwritten rules for the managers who join about buying new players.

The concept idea for now is (based on Dutch competition):

    1. Maximum of 5 (summer) transfers and 3 (winter) transfers.
    2. Summer transfer window (pre-season and first 2 games)
    3. Winter transfer window (gameday 16, 17, 18 and 19)
    4. The players you are buying can't be a higher level than your highest player (without training). For example you are Feyenoord and Gimenez will be the best with level 80, you are only able to buy players of max level 80.

Probably this will make the game a little bit more joyfull (for me) and a little less pay to win. If you like this idea and you want to join, or if you have some comments or additional ideas please let me know!

Looking forward to hear the different opinions.

It's a nice idea, but the training will overpower the problem, because the pay to win can be used for a training as well.
So nobody would buy new young players to train after that. It would better to play the league without transfers, something that is possibale as well.

This is such a refreshing take on OSM! Bringing in realistic transfer rules and player level caps would definitely add more strategy and fairness to the game, making it feel closer to real-life football management. It’s a great way to shift the focus from pay-to-win to actual tactical decisions. I also love the structured transfer windows—it adds that extra layer of realism! Have you considered incorporating youth development or training restrictions to balance team progression? I'd definitely be interested in joining a league like this!

Your idea sounds intriguing! Creating a more balanced and fair experience by limiting transfers and setting player level restrictions could definitely add more strategic depth and enjoyment to the game. It’s great to see someone passionate about enhancing gameplay for everyone involved. Here’s a summary of your proposal:

    Proposed Rules for OSM:
    Transfer Limits:

    Maximum of 5 summer transfers

    Maximum of 3 winter transfers

    Transfer Windows:

Summer: Pre-season and first 2 games

    Winter: Gameday 16, 17, 18, and 19

    Player Level Restriction:

New players can't have a higher level than your highest current player (without training)

These rules could indeed reduce the pay-to-win aspect and encourage managers to be more strategic with their transfers.
