*OSM's TOP 45 Movies Contest - THE COUNTDOWN*
-
Hello guys!
Thanks once again for everyone who participated and posted their lists for this Movie competition. In this topic I will daily post the movies that got the most of your votes starting from the #45 all the way to the # 1. (I might spice things up a bit at end and post 1 movie per day when we get to the Top 5 cause that might be interesting, but will still think about that).
Now I understand that the legitimate question might be why Top 45 only when the "Voting" topic was called Top 50? Well its because due to number of votes the movie on number 45 is the last one which earned 11 points, which means in order to collect those points it had to be on a minimum of 2 different lists, means at least 2 people had to vote for that movie. Also there were 14 movies that earned exactly 10 points so I was too lazy to come up with all sorts of tie breakers in order to have exactly 50 movies on list. If there were bit more people voting we would have escaped that scenario and surely more than 50 movies would have had more than 10 points earned.
BUT, there are some tie breakers that I had to think about. There are couple cases here 2 or 3 movies have same amount of points. In those cases the first thing that I am looking is the number of lists on which they were placed, and the movie that was placed on more lists gets the higher ranking. If they were on same number of lists then the IMDB score decides which one gets higher.
When we start the countdown tomorrow morning feel free to use this topic for discussion about the movies that are being posted. Was that movies on your list? Are you surprised they made the list? How much did you like those movies etc.?
There, I think I covered everything important. In the morning when I wake up we start the countdown. Movies that were ranked from #45-#41 will be posted tomorrow.
Regards,
Matt -

Didn't voted for any of them, but American History X is a brilliant movie
-
Unknown doesn't belong in the list, the rest are awesome movies, especially The Prestige
-
@timeenennaam_NL Why does Unknown not belong on the list?
What did you not like about that movie? -
Both Uknown and Titanic are not the same class with this other 3 movies, but we cant say that some movie "does not belong" on the list, people chose the way the did Of course there will be some surprising movies on the list cause this is football game, so there arent that many people who watched 1000+ movies
But all in all Im happy with they way list looks at end. Would be ever better if there was 10-15 people more voted but oh well, it ended up okay at end .
As for these movies, The Prestige was my 10 pointer, hoped it would end up bit higher as its my all time favourite but its nice to see it made the final list if nothing else.

Just my opinion here ladies & gents.
Of course Titanic was a huge and expensive production with amazing special effects and all, but in the end it was a simple love story. And since I'm a woman I have the right to say that I have watched far more mentionable love stories on the big screen, like : The Notebook or P.S. I love you, etc.
But even the thought of seeing American Beauty higher on the rankings compared to the American History X ( which was a pure masterpiece in every possible way ) just makes me wanna kill myself ! So somebody just shoot me pleaseeeee ! And don't miss!
Right between my eyes . Yes ? -
Omg, one of my chosen ones (Million Dollar Baby). And it could be ranked higher

Yes I know Alberto... This legendary actor & director is one of a kind ! Who will forget Clint Eastwood as the Dirty Harry? And I also voted one of his own movies . I was in a dilemma, between your movie and the Gran Torino.
Both of them absolutely wonderful movies! :thumbsup_tone2:
Need I say that both of them made me cry rivers? Nah... I guess you know it. -
American Beauty = masterpiece One of the best movies about life in general. As for Titanic, I agree with you Soph and yeah, Notebook is great

American Beauty a bloody masterpiece? What on earth Matija ? Born in the USA mate?
I'll call you Bruce from now on ... Ahahahaha -
@SUPERNOVA-8 Yup, pure masterpiece for me. Great story about fighting the mundaneness of suburban life. Passion, beauty, humor, and plastic bags on film are all part of what make this one trully breathtaking film.
Also, how can you want better closure to a film than this? This movie deserved every single of that 5 Academy Awards won. Specially Spacey the legend.
Oh and yeah, nah dont call me Bruce
-
@Majstor-Matt Kevin? Yeah , that man rocks as an actor. True. And noway I'm gonna start calling you Bruce buddy. No worries. I just love teasing you and also reading your posts. Hahaha. Hug? :hugging:
