[Community request] - Reinstating the Balkan Community
-
Dear Gamebasics,
We are writing you in the name of the Balkan OSM community of managers in the reference with the possibility of reinstating the former Balkan language group on the forum and in-game language. We bring you a number of arguments in favor of our request and we ask you to take them under serious consideration.
First of all, we would like to emphasize the fact that the Balkan language community includes six national communities (Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Montenegro and North Macedonia) as well as a vast number of managers currently residing in other countries throughout the world (we are talking about a language spoken by 30+ million people around the world.)
A group of enthusiastic managers have founded the Balkan OSM Community on another social network and this community has gathered more than a thousand of supporters and users which have confirmed that the information they have found there on their native language has enabled them better understanding of the game itself and its features. We have conducted an internal survey of the possible benefits of introducing a Balkan sub forum on the official forum site and translating the game to our language. We had a great discussion with a wide variety of ideas and we came to the conclusion that a very small fraction of potential users are using this game mostly because only a small fraction of Balkan population has foreign language skills sufficient to understand a game which is not translated into our native language. For that reason a lot of people choose football games of lesser quality in which they invest their leisure time budget simply because they are able to understand the game and play it with ease.
As we all know, specially those who play this game for some serious amount of time, back in the days OSM already had its Balkan version called "Online Fudbalski Menadžer". Balkan community had active and competitive players since the very beginnings of OSM, or back then OFM. Proud to be Croat, OFM Balkan, SRBIJA... those are just some of the crews that are active on this game since the very beginning, with some of them, like SRBIJA being very active and strong in all kinds of battles and competitions. Balkan area also gave some forum moderators and staff members to the game who were working hard on development of the game and its accessibility to bigger masses. After all, the current world champion is coming from Serbia, and also the national team of Serbia won the WNT in 2018. Those are great successes achieved without the support of their respective community. We can all agree that this achievement is even greater when we consider the circumstances, and then we can ask ourselves one question - how great is the potential of this region and to which measure could it flourish if given the opportunity ?
In recent 2 years Balkan Community has grown a lot. Majstor Matt, a player that is active since 2007 on the game, and lots of other long time OSM users, claim that they don’t remember when was the last time that Balkan countries had so many active crews and managers that are communicating on a daily basis via messenger group chats, social network groups and similar ways of communication channels. Many of those players are younger people who are still having problems communicating on a serious level in English.
We are sure that they would be very active as well if there was potentially a forum on Serbo-Croatian language available. After all, there is a number of very active crews from this area currently on OSM and all of them are playing official OSM battles and competitions on a regular basis. All of those groups are using active communication channels that are mentioned above.
Now imagine if all those crews and communication from outsourced channels transported to a forum that would use the language which they understand and are active users of that language. This forum would surely grow on a daily basis and it would become more and more active.
And with more active forums and a game on their language, even those who are a bit ashamed to speak up currently would easily express their opinion and maybe even join a crew and play official competitions. That way your customer base would surely grow as well for the Balkan area.It surely has big potential. Croatian recent success on the football stage made football even more popular in these countries and younger people love to play games related to football, but sadly not a big percentage of them are very active users of the English language.
Therefore, we suggest reinstating the old Balkan language group and translating the game into our language. In this instance we do not require an official support in our native language, which is something we could arrange indirectly via community manager and forum moderators. We have members who are familiar with all the aspects of the forum and are prepared to invest substantial amount of time to moderate the potential language group. Also we have professional people (linguists, lectors and translators) in our community who would be prepared to translate both the game interface and forum rules and documents if necessary. Our community is very motivated, resourceful and prepared to put our resources together to make this proposal work. We do not require much input from your esteemed side, but the opportunity to prove ourselves as a functioning and contributing community in this game which we all love and live on a daily basis.
Please inform us if we can be of any further assistance. We are looking forward to hearing your feedback.
Yours sincerely,

As a player who has been active for more than 10 years, I would really love to see this happening. I think that at one point I was forum moderator on old Balkan version. Forum was quite nice and active (comparable to current OSM forum) and as someone who can compare those times and current ones I am sure that potential new forum on our language would be far more active than back then.I recently joined crew world and I couldnt believe how many active and quality managers are playing this game so seriously and on such competitive level from this area.
Therefore, I am really proud of being a part of this initiative and I really hope that they will give us a chance.

I hope this initiative will contribute to the fact that football fans who speak "Balkan languages" will have more interest in OSM than before when our language was not.

I've been in old Balkan community forum (or as English community liked to call us South Slavic community). I've been there while @edojaha and @Weadfoot were community managers. Unfortunately, we were shut down cause the forum wasn't very active and very small number of managers with out language in there. Nowadays, I see much more active managers from this region and it surely would be nice to see our former South Slavic forum reopened

Uh, where to start?
I'll start with gratitude .. every honor for a text like this! Brilliantly written and everything in place.
It took a long time for a text like this, a lot of effort, really, impressive.
We've known each other for about a year and a half, you taught me a lot about the game itself, got me involved and taught me how to use the forum, we grew up together, fought for a lot, and together we were able to build an amazing community of people from the Balkans. ..
My humble opinion is that we deserve some respect for all these players we have introduced to the game, learned about the game, and who remain in the game because of the 'of the Balkans' community.
After all, you 'brought back' people who played the old version, who hadn't played for years, and now they've rejoined the game, spending coins, playing battles.
On the other hand, we are successful as a community, having 3 Balkan crews in the top 100 in the world, and a few more crewss that are slowly breaking through.
All in all, I support all this like all the other guys, and I can only say that I take off your hat and that you are a fantastic guy. It is an honor to be your friend, I am proud of you and will always be with you and your side.
I also think that the Balkan Forum would be useful to many players when it comes to adapting to the game, joining groups, a lot of them do not even know 10% what the game contains, and I have played it for years and until I joined the Balkan community I had no idea how much I don't know about the game itself .. A lot of players who play would find easier crews to join, play battles and the like, so I think the Balkan Forum would help them in many ways and would be of benefit to all of us, especially for you because a lot of players will start with more activity and therefore more coins spend.
And perhaps the most important point of all of the above is that we have proven that we can function together no matter what nationality we are.
Once again all congratulations on the text, there is not much to add, except to emphasize again, I think we deserve the Balkan community in the forum and in our 'language'. Greeting BRO! @IvanAndal -
It would be great if it actually happened. I really believe that if GB gives us a second chance it could be, a big step in the right direction. And we will give everything to show you that we deserve to have a community. We will create a forum where a reasonable discussion can take place, where players help each other. A place of mutual respect. All I’m asking is for a return of respect. When someone is making an request about something others have requested about, respectfully explain why it is/isn't a good idea. We're all human beings here, none of us is better than the other.
Great post @IvanAndal
-
@IvanAndal I agree, it would be nice
-
I support your idea but don't call it Balkan Community only slavic countries. Albania, Kosovo, Greece, Bulgaria etc (Romania has its own community). Maybe would be better to call it 'Slavic Community' or something like that, because you can't include Albanians in community we can't be part of it since we don't speak your language (our parents maybe they did but not us, we don't learn serbian language anymore in our schools)
And if you mention Balkan crews, let me remember who's the best Balkan (not Slavic) crew right now in top100 battle app. Cheers
-
@To each and every one of You - The osm football enthusiasts
A really great and useful initiative, with a serious argumentation!
Hopefully, GM management will take a serious interest in this topic and soon enough reinstated the Balkan language group on the forum and in-game language!
Gamebasics BV ( Online soccer manager) and Balkan community can do a lot of good and remarkable things together, so we should all help each other out, and stand together in this because together we are stronger!
Cheers
