How much do team objectives count?

If I take on a team with a low rank (objective), even though I may build it during the prep days so that the players have higher ratings than a team with rank 1, if I meet say a rank 1 team early on it is hard to beat them. I don't think this has anything to do with tactics but that such teams are "loaded" by reputation in their favour.
Am I right? -

Hello mate...everything has to do with tactics and building a good team....no team wins by "reputation"....
