OSM WC 2018 Edition
-
Hi all, as soon as i get the WC list i will know the places for this edition.
I expect to begin with the 1st round in July (First week i think!) so i will have June to check participants, send PMs... And a lot of things more to do.- YES, i know that we passed 31st May and the period is over.
- NO, you don't need to post here your points to be able to join in WC. Was only an idea that i had and suggest here to give the topic some activity!
- NO, there isn't an exactly manager points needed to have a place.
When i have news, i will come here and post it, don't worry about it if i didn't post each day anything here. And don't forget something important... I am the only one who is organizing this competition (With Gamebasics help of course) so i'm the one who has the 100% true answers to your doubts.
Keep in contact!

Hey yo! I bring some news about OSM WC 2018
First of all... This time, i decide to reduce the places from 192 to 144 (12 leagues instead 16).
4 best from each league will go to second phase and 3 best of each semifinal will go the final round!I could give you a lot of reasons and explaining about why reduce it but i want to resume in two phrases:
- I have a life and i'm not agree about check alone more than 500 accounts to find around 200 able users.
- Less places = less problems and maybe more level!
Now please, don't continue posting your points (Thanks to those users that maintain the activity here with their post of course!) because i already have a provisional list and i will try to begin sending PMs during next two weeks. Before 22nd June i promise that i will have send it all!
During this weekend i think i will update some OSM WC teams
PS: I won't send any PM during this weekend, don't be nervous!

@markez17 Good evening. I know you have lots of things to do but it seems that patience is not a virtue many people have received. I have just seen quite a few posts showing their points and cups won in the past 6 months. The funny thing about it is that some of them come from other countries' moderators. I don't expect to know more than you and I'm pretty sure that your long experience organising the WC will help you, but people want some information. Openness would certainly be advisable. The more you show what you are doing, the fewer questions you will receive. Information, from my point of view, could be positive. Thus, taking into account that you know the sum of points you are meeting for this tournament, I would ask you to inform more or less the number of points that might probably be necessary to classify for it. Figures are always a nice piece of information.
I also agree with you that showing your results in front of the whole community is something that helps everybody's self pride. Let's not cut people's expressions. Why not asking managers over XXXXX points to show their results? Let us know who are the top scorers in OSM leagues. I'm sure we all would enjoy it.
Anyway, good luck and thank you for your time devoted for OSM.

Hello @Markez17,
I have no intention of playing this tournament, but because I've been tagged twice in a short period of time, I've been "forced" to follow this post. After reading the information that you gave, I would like to express something.
In my opinion, the reduction of the number of managers from 192 to 144 (25% less) is a little bit sad. I also think it could be considered unfair if we take into consideration the moment of the announcement of this new rule.
I can't stop thinking in those who have been working hard to achieve the goal of joining the WC2018, giving their best every day and spending their money and time, listening now that they have less opportunities to participate.Markez, I'm pretty sure that we all here respect and understand that you have other things to do in your real life. Everybody has. But maybe you should reconsider other options before leaving 48 players out. Is it not possible asking for help to some of your bosses?
Best regards.

@markez17 totally agree with you . bravo!!!!

If you go to the first post on this topic, wrote by me, you can see the following:
VERY IMPORTANT: The number of manager qualified to Round 1 (192 actually) can be reduced!
Post date is November, before the qualification period started. For me, would be the best choice continue with 192 places or more but, sadly, OSM seems that doesn't have the big quantity of "fair play" and active users that some years ago. Last edition was my first time in front of the competition and i learn some details, one of them is that we must reduce the places number. Now let's see how it's work and if qualified users accept to play or decline the invitation!

I don't know if i understand your post or not... But if your intention is to know the minimum points to qualify this WC edition, the list of users qualified, etc. Every year the organization bring some information about it, don't worry.
If i don't have 144 users that accept the invitation to be part of this WC edition, nobody knows how much manager points gets the last qualified. During June's last week i will have all groups for 1st round and it's the time to give some public information.
Like i said, users who post their points make the post more active but i deleted some post from users that doesn't understand how OSM WC works and now that i'm posting here more or less important information, i don't feel that would be nice have a lot of messages that hide the ones that i make to let you know how everything is going.

Hi Manuel, I unfortunately had read your note in which you said that the number of managers involved could be reduced and I had also told to my friends, but I was hoping for a smaller reduction, because 25% are so many! But of course you must also find a number that can allow you to form the groups, so I understand that with 144 everything becomes easier for your organization, so I thank you so far for the great work you are doing and you have to do to the realization of the tournament.
But I have a question to ask you, I understand that you don't want (or can not) unbalance in saying the minimum score for this year, since you will have to do a job selection (cheating, waste participation and other), but I would like to know (and this surely you know) the score of the 144th qualified of last year. I know that the last qualified (192 °) of last year made 29.910 points, I just wanted to know how many points made the 144th. Obviously it's just a statistical data, nobody can refer to this score because this year we may have been better or less good than last year, but at least we'll get an idea
Thanks again and have a good job -

At this point, the number 144 of the 2017 provisional list had around 2.5k manager points less than the number 144 of the 2018 provisional list.
Manager points that got number 144 of last edition probably won't be enough to qualify this year with the 192 places system -

Totally agree. Reduction of the number of managers from 192 to 144 (25% less) is a little bit sad. Actually, it is really really sad. Taking into account experience of 2017, I was sure that approx 30K will be enough for participation. And YES, I spent my time and money for listening now that I have NO opportunity to participate.
Markez, you are kindly requested to reconsider your decision.
Thanks in advance. -

Thanks in advance.First of all: OSM WC 2018 has 144 places, not possible to change it.
The minimum of 30K manager points is something that users think but it's not a rule, ther isn't a minimum. You are not agree if you don't get a place of 144 but... Are you agree if we have 192 places and you don't get one of them with your manager points?
I say it to you but the same case would be for any user that is not agree with the reduction.
