Can't delete account

Hi,
I want to delete this profile as I want another nickname. I've read that that is not easily possible so I want to create a new account and thus deleting this one.
When I try to delete this account (edit profile) I get redirected to the homepage and when I try to log in again it is possible and it looks like nothing ever happened.
Does anyone have a fix?
