Specific Player Positions - Discussion Topic

@mαhmouժ-muhαmmαժ I had an awesome squad (112 average) , unbeaten all season and lost a single match against a CPU team (3/4 rounds before end of season) with around 75 average. Lost 1-0
That's football, lucky, randomness whatever you want to name it. But if football/OSM engine was giving mathematic results I'm sure that no one would like it.
I just don’t know what else to do , when it happened for the first time , I didn’t have all positions covered so I said to myself it had to be that and now fixed it
I keep in mind every single detail possible yet I get some weird defeat against weak team while my rival for the title gets a way with an away win with just 5 shots and 40 possession vs 12 and 60
Then what else can I do
I’m clueless -

There were a couple of guys on my Crew League that managed to find some tactic/settings that gave them advantage over me and were beating me quite some times...
I'm not someone that changes a lot tactics. I play mostly 433B, not caring about my opponents tactics, mostly because I really don't have a lot of time to spend with playing the game actively as I use to ages ago.
But I decided to take some time to analyse my games and talking with my brother that also plays OSM, he told me that when he changed to 433A, he managed to get better results.
I decide to try it and also changed offside trap from No to Yes (and I'm testing also 433A passing game in another slot) » I believe I only draw a couple of matches since I changed from 433B to 433A
Sometimes just a small change like this one can make all the difference!
And No, tbh, I'm not paying a lot attention to specific positions. If I've two players with same stats I may put them on correct position, otherwise, I still set them on the same way I use to before specific positions have been implemented

Did that and currently under testing for the upcoming 2 games- note that I got more possession and shots in all games even if I got a bad result

@mαhmouժ-muhαmmαժ Yeah, i know. But sometimes you dont need to have more possession and more shoots to win.
I will give you an example... Sometime ago i used to play with 451 to win 433. The way around i lose everytime. But, then... Having a discuss with some people, i found a way to make the 433 wins the 451. In 90% i used, i won it. But with less possession and less shoots than the oppenent that used the 451. So, you can create a good tactic to win an adversary having less possession and less shoots.
So, try to change somethings and maybe your results will be better.

I remember that if you don't play with specific players in the right positions, they will not play worse than what they played. They will play exactly the same as they did before this update. The difference is that players in the right position will receive a "little extra". I still select formation first and than pick the players. Sometimes I have doubts about the new system, for example when I play 433B. This formation contains a defensive midfielder, but I have defensive midfielder Busquets (93) and attacking midfielder Havertz (97). I have to other midfielders for the MC positions (97 and 98). But who should I pick on the DM position? I didn't want to switch to 433A because I expected this formation wouldn't work against my opponent today. So my choice was Busquets or Havertz as defensive midfielder.
I even consider to sell Havertz and buy a MC trainee (if a young guy is available) because I don't use an AM in all my matches. 433B is my main tactic.

Regarding the bonus for the correct position usage for players. Couldnt there be a lowered minimum (lets say 9/11 - pun not intended) for number of players needed to activate the bonus? Just as it is hard to collect all 11 players of same nationality, wits haviung in mind that those 11 are all top players for your line up, in the same way is to collect players for all 11 positions If you are changing formations often.
Also additional problem, which is a big one, and it is stated couple times already, It is very hard to collect players on certain positions because they are not available on the transfer list (RM, LM).
So please try to consider lowering the number of players on correct positions in order to activate the bonus. Even 10/11 would be great.

Imagine that total bonus is 11points, for every player on correct position you'll get 1 point. So, if you have 5 players on correct positions you'll have 5 points bonus!@specialone

Do you (or someone else) have any rough estimation about the impact on match results?For example:
50% player skills
30% formation & tactics vs opponent's formation & tactics
20% for specialists, nationality bonus and player position bonusses?
(training camp bonus not included)I try to get some idea about how to make decisions in situations like when I have a right wing back with 90def+25att skill but also a DC with 95def+17att skill that I don't need in the centre: who should a give the DR position? Since the new system was introducted last week I had to make several decisions like that but I can't make a good estimation about the impact of player positions but I would like to make some calculations (based on estimations).

Player positions are live on ALL platforms since they became available to all users!

I think it would really help if they are added here as well! It will give the managers a better idea where to look for specific players.

@specialone Hi mate, small question. It appears I can see the player positions in Microsoft Edge, but not in Google Chrome. I have cleared my cache and everything but that still didn't change anything. Any idea what is causing this?

Some of the OSM features are 'limited' to a single browser.
This means that if you keep switching browsers, you risk to not have those features on any of them.
We're aware of this limitation and trying to solve it, but we've no estimated date for it.
Until then, our advise is that you should avoid as much as possible to log on web on different devices/browsers. Stick to same device and browser to have all features enabled!

Nice touch with the green around the player when he is in position on the formation screen. Any chance of doing something like this for nationality bonus?
