How does Champions Cup work?

I'm talking about this competition which top four finishers in top leagues are able to join in the upcoming season. This is a one-season game so I am kinda confused.

Say, I manage Rayo Vallecano in La Liga now and I finished in top four. In my first managerial slot.

When the season is over, do I simply proceed to play Champions Cup automatically for the next season with my first managerial slot? Does it work that way? If so, how long does the CC take?

After you league ends completelly you get a WCup ticket that you can use in next 7 days or something like that, and when you use it you will be allocated in a Winners Cup and your team and finances will be the same as they were at end of the league.
