This means you have 4 midfielders. It is the minimum amount every team needs. You’ll have to buy a midfielder if you want to start selling others. -
Ah, makes sense now. So basically the game locks that position count to keep the squad balanced? I guess the trick is to replace them first before selling? Wonder if there's a workaround without buying another midfielder right away.

I changed the formation and now I don't need CAM players anymore but I can't sell them all because of the message 'a minimum of players is needed on that position'.

Like @JAY-ZO already mentioned, there is a minimum amount of players you need in your squad for each line. You need at least 2 goalkeepers, 4 defenders, 4 midfielders and 3 attackers. If you have the minimum amount of players, you will have to first buy another one before you can sell one.
