Managerpoints don't make sense

I have played a lot of seasons and when I go to my trophies to see all of them listed, there's a column with managerpoints. However, when I go to the overall leaderboards, I'm listed somewhere as 130.000 with only around 7500 managerpoints, eventhough I have earned way more than that. Is there a logical explanation for this?
