About the new Scouting system

im sorry for this stupid question but in the old versions of osm there used to be a specific like defense number as an example for wingers it used to be 45 for playmakers and for players like dybala or firmino it was like 28 as defensive number and for strikers its more less , now its different and im not familiar with it like i can't decide if its a winger or striker

If an attacking player has little defense then that means they are a striker. If they have a lot of defense that means they are a winger
(For example Julian Draxler-PSG 90 attack 35 defense WINGER
Haller-West Ham United 89 attack 8 defense STRIKER -

Haller-West Ham United 89 attack 8 defense STRIKERok i get this my point was there was a specific number know for each position like for false 9 strikers like firmino and dybala defense 28
for playmakers like messi , pedro , mane hazard etc it was 45
for fast wingers like dembele its 38
and for defenders it was like the same
attacking back like dani alves - jordi alba 45 in attack
defensive would be 25 or less in defense like kenny tete -

@descgilio Yeah I think it is different in the new versions of OSM. But I don't know for sure.
i hope they bring it back as it was at least or there gonna be explanation for each player role because i can't get any players similar in attacking or defense number with the same role as before

Hello and welcome to the World forum
First of all it's not a stupid question at all. My guess is that you are trying to get a Forward with high defensive skills. And you are right , it is called a Winger in the new Scouting feature. So when you use this option in your Scout he normally brings back to you 3 Forwards with 30+ or 40+ defensive skills.
For example , look at my latest Scout criteria :
And here's an example of a group of scouted Forwards-Wingers :
But the thing is that if you're trying to Scout a 90+ ( attacking skilled ) Forward and choose to be a Winger one ( with 30+ defensive skills ) you may sometimes not be able to find one with these exact criteria.
It happens especially while playing in big leagues , active and full of human managers. It is actually one of the Common Questions made in Support :

im a bit confused about player roles as an example for strikers i can't decide who plays as playmaker-shadow striker-center forward-winger
the problem is that i used to get that the similar strikers with similar roles shares the same defensive number but this is not anymore even with midfielders or defenders, as an example before playmakers like bernardeschi-reus-neymar-forsberg all have the same defensive number "45", for defenders attacking full-backs will share 45 in attacking number , with the new system that's no more , i just want someone at least to clear this out for me -
@descgilio I basically go by this: Forwards with 20 or more defense are not center forwards or strikers. Defenders 20 or more defense are attacking fullbacks, players with less than 20 defense are center backs.
Unfortunately, I don't think there is a really clear way to determine if a player is a shadow striker, but I think playmakers' defense is usually in the '40s (This may be the same for shadow striker) Defenders with over 40 offense are probably wing-backs.
It is pretty hard to determine these roles with the new scout system compared to the old one you described, because not every type of forward or defenders' weaker stat is the same. But after playing this game for a decent while I have come to mostly understand the new scout system.

@uchenna-a *I meant Defenders with 20 or more attacking stat are attacking fullbacks, and defenders with less than 20 attacking stat are center backs. Also a moderator answered your question in your past topic you made about the new scout system.

thanks for replying but why anyway updating the scout system like what's the point after all

@uchenna-a and btw roberto firmino is a shadow striker his defensive number was 29 in the old scout system like dybala , ricardo goulart , manuel pucciarelli but now its 9
