Specific Player Positions - Discussion Topic

@majstor-matt
@SpecialOne has told utility positions aren't available now. -
@wakil-isco is it for everyone now? I can see it as well but I was thinking about what could potentially happen should I not follow it.
-
@aweijie
Yes, for everyone. -
@wenger-wise Or maybe just create a fantasy league WITHOUT Transfers, pretty simple.
-
Would it affect the rating and performance of the players if for example LF played as a RF ??
I already built my squad in a very very combative league ( 19 active and friends managers ) and its not easy to rebuild a team in that league
-
@specialone Too bad that there is nobody from GB is online to answer questions while this change is suddenly implemented and has huge impact on the matches tonight. We really need more information about the impact of letting players play out of position. For example: I appear to have 4 DC's and 1 DR in my team, how big will the reduction for my DC with 14 Att be when I pitch as DL? Or would it be better to buy a DL on the transferlist which has a 10% lower defending rating because he performs better on DL than my current player.
-
@mαhmouժ-muhαmmαժ Yes, you can continue using your forwards as you like.

Unfortunately, we can't share information on the exact impact of bonuses. However, we can share that lining up all your players on their specific positions will generate a bonus that's comparable to lining up the right Specialists.
Because specific positions and Specialists are a nice way for a manager to add that extra touch to the Line-up. -

You can still use all Attackers/Midfielders/Defenders on their positions. Specific players on their specific position just adds a bonus.

- too many players are put in certain positions, while in real life they play couple positions
Yes, some players can play on several positions in real life. But most of them have one favourite specific position. The position in which the player features most, is used as their specific position in OSM.
Reminder: players still perform on their line. Specific position is just an additional bonus. -
@specialone Would be so cool if we had some numbers, or rough estimation what does "performing worse" actually means, is it like 10-20-30% performance decrease, or. One thing I've noticed, transfer lists will have to be a bit more flexible, for example, in my Italian league, whole transfer list is populated by CBs only, no other types of defenders
*Cool update, though. Much more interesting to build a team now!

Super awesome I can totally build my team in a 3-5-2 with only LB/RBs, CMs, CAMs and CDMs available in the market........
-
@majstor-matt
Hey mate, notice the source you sent, in that many players are actually centre-backs and defensive midfielder. Right backs and left back is just one of their utility position. -
I am not too happy now I built my line-ups on two subaccounts for tonight's matches. I really notice that I it's too difficult to build a good squad now.
Normally I check which lines need reinforcement: for example my defense needs a better player because the worst player is 7 points below the team average. Then most of the time I can buy a new defender with some attack skill. But now I have to buy a LB (left defender) and I notice that there is no LB on the market. I really think this player position update needs changes on the transfer market as well. We need enough players on every position for every manager, so more players in general and especially changes that add more rare players like RM/LM.
The second disadvantage is that the new update makes it's more difficult to switch tactics against different opponents. Normally I use 5 formations per season (sometimes 1 or 2 more in case of injuries / suspensed players). But with players on specific positions these tactical options are reduced. Example: 4231 requires a RM + a LM, while these players are not useful in 433 (A or B) anymore.
And the third disadvantage: it's more difficult to replace a tired or injured player. You normally won't have a backup DR + backup DL+ backup DC.

This update is something we need to adjust and learn with.
But already i have a proposal:- remove the diffence between RB and LB, and LM/RM and RF/LF. Its gonna be very annoying to keep a balanced team and enjoy all the bonusses possible.
- with this update we need a far more balanced transfer list, fixed transfer worker times, etc.
.
On the other hand it is another update that pushes the game towards being a FIFA Ultimate Team Look-a-like.
-
@koningco Absolutely true about the tactics. With these positions, you already got to figure out which tactics you wanna play during an entire season. I think the game is gonna be a 4231/451 only game.
We already see a lot of use from these 2 tactical formations.
Maybe @SpecialOne can ask Gamebasics/Miniclip about some percentage charts with used formations to show use which tactics are used most. -
@specialone The bonus increases for each player in their position, or is it a fixed bonus for having 11 players in their position?
-
@gui-martins21 good question!
-
@majstor-matt Yeah, I have Lucas from Bayern in my team and he's a CB despite having over 30 attack, I think Alaba would be the same
