How can I make my league with friends as fun as possible? (Recommendations please)

This is a repost as my other post got locked and misunderstood.
I am fully aware that you cannot mod the game and twist the in-game rules whatever,,, what I'm talking about is essentially role playing your own rules.
I'm planning to host a league with some friends, some of which have never played this game before. I want to somehow limit the transfer window so that the teams(my friends) all have a somewhat equal opportunity to win or at least perform decent enough to get on the upper half of the league table. We will choose a smaller league with maybe 10-16 teams (maybe Australia, Qatar etc.) So we also want to make the transfer realistic for these teams. And we will also be betting money for the extra SPICE
Can anyone recommend me some fun rules to make the league more realistic and exciting? I want this experience to be as fun as possible!

Hello there and welcome to the Osm game and forums.
We can try to help you out with this fun project of yours but, to be honest with you , your post was a bit confusing . Therefore we need to set a few things straight first.
You wrote that you wish to join a league of 10 to 16 clubs. Austalia has 10 clubs , Qatar has 12 clubs. So for starters ...
a) Please take a good look at the League Overview - https://en.onlinesoccermanager.com/LeagueTypes, think how many managers you'd expect to join your league and then decide which league to choose for you and your friends.

Just to be sure , are you planning to use Boss Coins to create your own private league then?
This is the only way for you to secure that no stranger is going to pick up any of your league's club , in order for you to be able to proceed with the role playing among the company of your friends.
Cause in this case, when you create your own league, you automatically become the Moderator of the league and then via the Advanced Tools you will be able to "twist" the rules of the game for some features, including Timers or Transfers etc...
Or you can choose one of the Special Leagues , where the TransferList ( aka TL ) is disabled by default.
