Scouting not working?!
-
Hi all,
It seems that scouting isn't working for a long time now. It doesn't matter what I am scouting for I hardly ever get a match.
Even my latest I just scouted for a dutch player between 85 and 99, nothing else and not 1 matching scouting result... this happens all the time also when I am more specific.
This is really frustrating, is this known does this effect others as well?
Hope to hear from you!
Cheers,
Mark

Hi,
There are not that many players who are in the 85 - 99 range. So the chance that the scout doesn't bring back at least one player that matches your criteria are pretty big then. It also depends if you are playing in England, Spain, Italy or France, as most of the players who fit in that range are playing in those countries. And what also matters are how many active users there are in your league and how far that league has progressed already.
As for Dutch players in that range, I believe that only fits to Van Dijk, De Vrij, Wijnaldum and Frenkie de Jong. So depending on what criteria you used and in which country you play, there is very limited options here.

Thank you for your reply, there surely are more Dutch players in that range but maybe it is a bad example
As for the competitions that is interesting, I thought it didn't matter because the scout comes back with players outside the competition I am playing in. Which is logical other way one could drastically lower the quality of his competition, right? And it does matter how many players are playing your competition? I also didn't know that.

You can check the base stats of all players here
https://www.onlinesoccermanager.nl/LeagueTypes
If you check all the top leagues in all the top countries, you will see that there are hardly any Dutch players that are in the 85 - 99 range
And basically all players that are in that range play in the top leagues. Just check the Dutch Eredivise for example and you will notice that not a single player is in the 85 - 99 range.
So yeah, based on that it matters if you are playing in one of the top 3 leagues (England, Spain and Italy) as that removes a lot of potentially players to be scouted. Even Germany and France have hardly any players that fit in that range.
And yes, the number of active users in a league matters aswell, as they might also scout for those players, which reduces the amount of players you might find yourself. So even if you play in, let's say, Belgium, If you have a lot of active users that are looking for the top players, they might have already bought some of the players that you are looking for yourself.

Thank you, this helps!
Another question I was wondering about, not related to scouting. What is the downfall for selecting a player on another position? For example, how 'bad' is to have a CM player play on a CAM or CVM position?
